The South Asian Bar Association National Convention is to be held in Washington D.C., July 15, 2017. Sheela Murthy will serve on the panel discussion the topic, “Lawyer to Entrepreneur.” Moderated by lawyer and businessman, Kubs Lalchandani, this panel examines South Asian attorneys who shift from lawyer to entrepreneur. Indians in the U.S. have founded eight percent of all technology and engineering startups, while making up less than one percent of the total population. Indians have overtaken the next seven immigrant groups combined, starting 33.2 percent of all immigrant-founded startups in the U.S.
South Asian lawyers are not excluded from this phenomenon, leaving the law to become entrepreneurs or launching ventures that complement their legal practices. Murthy’s entrepreneurial path is an inspiration to many young attorneys. She is sure to bring value to this discussion.
